Inpatient Care
Inpatient Care at Horton Community Hospital includes a 25 bed unit that provides quality care for the acute or chronically ill patient. Care is provided for everyone through the complete age spectrum, children through geriatrics. Care provided on this unit may be as an outpatient treatment, 24-hour observation status, inpatient or in the swing-bed program.
The Medical Surgical nursing staff at Horton Community Hospital consists of Registered Nurses and Certified Nurse Aides. The majority of registered nurses on the medical surgical unit are Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) certified as well as Pediatric Advanced Life Support(PALS) certified. ACLS and PALS are required within one year of employment. Our nursing staff is competent to recognize changes in patients’ condition and perform thorough assessments, then work with the physician to lead the care team, to provide best patient care possible. The nursing focus of HCH is top quality, evidence based, patient focused care. Our patient staff ratios are low allowing us to build relationships with our patients and their families.
